Q: I know imovie accepted mp4 video format, but when convert mp4 to imovie , it's still not allowing me to add them on. Need help!!
Q: My AVI plays smoothly in QuickTime, but in iMovie, I get audio but no picture. I import AVI to iMovie , and it goes through the copying process, but nothing showes up on screen.
Q: Can you recommend an easy-to-use Video tool to help me import some MOV files taken by some DSLR camcorders to Final Cut Pro directly, such as Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
Q: I have a Sony Handycamwith a hard disk and it takes video in .mpg files. I didn't see that in the list of supported file types on the Apple website page for it.
Part 2: The Simple Solution: Best method to convert video to iMovie/FCP-Compatible format
That's correct,not all audio and video compression formats are supported by iMovie '08/'09/'10/'11 . iMovie only read AVI that both the the audio and the video were compressed using a codec that iMovie can use. The same to MP4 not accepted by iMovie.
According to Apple website, FCP don't natively support MPG, MPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 files, it can import MPEG-4 files and MOV files (without rendering). So if you want to convert MPG to FCP , you need convert MPG to MP4 first. Canon EOS 5D Mark III record MOV videos in H.264 codec, which is not so good for Final Cut Pro editing. Therefore, if you get MOV files with H.264 codec, it is a good idea for you to convert MOV to FCP .
As the Apple TV 3 becomes a new trend, More and more people like to play interesting videos on Apple TV 3 . Apple TV 3 support 1080p videos, but not all is accepted by Apple TV 3 like MKV,MTS,WMV. To convert all 1080P movies to Apple TV 3 , there is a good solution-Video Converter (Video Converter for Mac) which is able to convert 1080P MKV to Apple TV 3 .
